Monte da Ravasqueira, besides being a family estate, it is also a fast-growing wine producer, now producing wines from three different regions in Portugal. Based in Arraiolos, Alentejo, the 3000 hectares of property give rise to more than five Alentejo brands besides incorporating the production of other wine brands, that are originated in the Lisbon and Tagus regions.
Guarda Rios is one of the leading wine brands in Portugal. This brand was created in the early 2000’s by our Chief Winemaker and quickly started making a statement in the Portuguese market. A brand now offering three different levels: basic, signature and the gold Edition.
The entry level has no oak barrel aging, while the signature offers a little more structure and complexity due to a 6 months aging period in French oak barrels. The gold Edition is a limited edition conceived to shine at the table and to be shared amongst wine lovers and friends
Guarda Rios Signature White Wine 2018 - DOC ALENTEJO
In the wine cellar, these grapes were vinified at low temperatures in order to preserve the intensity of the aromas and flavors so typical of this region’s grape varieties. The wine was then fermented in stainless steel vats and partially aged in barrels of French oak. It goes well with intense flavors.
Comprising the Antão Vaz, Arinto, Viognier, and Semillon grape varieties, this wine presents a good volume and complexity, provided by the work of lees in tub and its stage in barrels. Acidity is present, but is balanced, and yellow in colour, with greenish overtones. The nose presents notes of ripe fruit, together with green notes of fresh cut grass. The minerality that the partial fermentation and stage in barrel transmitted to it allow this wine to be appreciated outside a meal, as well as an accompaniment to dishes of lean meat and fish.

''Light oak aging gives this wine a rich smooth character. Toast and spice come together with yellow fruits and citrus to make a refreshing wine that is so obviously meant for the table. Drink now. ROGER VOSS''
