• Quinta dos Murças is located in northern Portugal, in the Cima-Cargo sub-region of the Douro, on the right bank of the river. It is characterized by its 8 diverse terroirs, which are distinguished by different altitudes, exposures, variations of schist soils and vertical vineyards. In 1947, the estate become a pioneer with the first vertical vineyard planted in the Douro Region.

       Aroma:

       

      Complex with great intensity, dominated by dark berry fruits such as blackberry and cassis, balsamic notes.

       

       Aging:

      Hand-picked grapes, destemming, crushing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and temperature control (25ºC – 28ºC) , foot treading in granite ‘lagares’ where the brandy spirit was added. and pressing in an old-style vertical press.

      Aged in concrete vats and used french oak casks for 9 months.

       

       Tasting Notes:

       

      Firm and concentrated with balancing acidity, mature tannins well integrated in the body and volume. Long and persistent finish, balanced and elegant.

      Quinta dos Murças Vintage 2015 comes from old vineyards planted along the banks of the Douro River, which, due to the low altitude and southern exposure, produce grapes of great concentration and maturity. Fermented in the traditional granite “lagares” with foot treading. This vintage port shows the potential of the Cima-Corgo sub-region to produce vintages of great elegance, intensity and persistence.
