THE WHITES

Series | Gouveio | White | 2017 | Doc Douro - Vivino Rating 4.1

Intro: The Series wines represent our passion for innovation and experimentation in the search for new and interesting wines. Touriga Branca / Gouveio is one of the best-known grapes in the Douro, although very rarely seen as a single varietal wine. This noble variety excels for its excellent texture on the palate, rich minerality and mouth-watering acidity.

Region: Douro (D.O.C)

Aging: 50% of the wine is aged in new French oak to smoothen the edges

Tasting Notes: The Series Gouveio / Touriga branca  shows the character of a great Douro. An aromatically complex white with delicate floral and white fruit notes combined with hints of vanilla and mineral nuances. On the palate, it reveals structure and generous, with a good mineral texture, finishing off with great acidity.

ABV: 13.5%  Serving Temp: 8-10°C  Pairing: Pork, Fish, Cheese


Casa de Santar Reserva | White | 2018 | Doc Dao - Vivino Rating 4.2

Intro: A classic Dão. A white full of elegance, born to be eternal and timeless, like all classics. With an impressive capacity for evolution in the bottle, this wine is a white for meals, but also a white for sharing. A traditional wine for unforgettable moments.

Region: Dao (D.O.C)

Grapes: 50% Encruzado, 30% Bical, 20% Cerceal Branco

Aging: 6 months on French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Defined citrine with greenish tones. On the nose fresh, with predominance in citric, exotic and complexity notes. In the mouth it is fresh, fruity, unctuous, complex and persistent.

ABV: 13.5%  Serving Temp: 8-12 °C  Pairing: Grilled red & white meats, Fish dishes,   Can be used as an appetizer too

Scala Coeli | White | 2018 | Doc Alentejo - Vivino Rating 4.2

Intro: This wine takes its name from the Santa Maria Scala Coeli Monastery where monks live in silence and daily prayer. Only produced in exceptional years and from grape varietals not common in the Alentejo region

Region: Alentejo (V.R)

Winery: Cartuxa

Grapes: Verdelho

Aging: 10 months on lees with battonage

Tasting Notes: Citrine coloured wine with slight greenish reflections. Very subtle aroma, mineral, linden and lychees. Large volume in the mouth, balanced with excellent acidity, which makes the final tasting deep and intense. 

The Scala Coeli wine (stairway to heaven - Latin) is 100% Alvarinho grape, produced by Eugenio D’Almeida Foundation (Cartuxa), same producer of Pera Manca. Fermented at stainless steel and aged 12 m batonnage. 👃🏻Flowers, pear, citric, tropical fruits, wood and honey. Entrance with softness, but fulfill all the palate. The wine is very well structured, mineral and acidity perfectly balanced and round. Persisting and enjoyable ending Fantastic Producer - Fundacao Eugenio de Almeida - Cartuxa!

THE REDS


Evel | Red | 2018 | Doc Douro - Vivino Rating 3.8

Intro: Evel is one of the oldest and most charismatic wine brands in Portugal, having been registered in 1913. With no specific meaning, the word Evel is a derivative of its anagram: Leve (light). The brand name was chosen with the intention of describing its tasting characteristics, which are maintained until this day: an elegant, smooth and enjoyable wine. 

Region: Douro (D.O.C)

Grapes: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional & Tinta Roriz

Aging: 5 months in new French Oak

Tasting Notes: A young and bright wine with a profound red ruby colour and violet tints. Intense aromas of mature red berries and green tobacco, harmonoisly integrated with vanilla, result of its ageing in oak. Medium-bodied, soft tannins and subtle oak, make this wine round, pleasant, well- structure and very persistent in its finish.

ABV: 13.5%  Serving Temp: 16-18 °C  Pairing: Roast Lamb, Tuna Steak, Soft Cheese Roast Veal


Quinta Dos Aciprestes | Reserva | Red | 2018 | Doc Douro - Vivino Rating 4.2

Intro: The Reserva from Quinta dos Aciprestes was born in 2003 with the ambition to summon the very best that the estate can offer through a better understanding of our vineyards. By implementing a form of precision viticulture, we are able to discover a better representation of our terroir, resulting in wines of superior quality.

Aging: 12 Months in French Oak Barriques (30% new Oak, 70% old Oak)

Tasting Notes: The wine reveals an astonishing violet colour and very complex aromas of plums, red and black fruit perfectly integrated with nuances of vanilla and floral notes. On the palate, it shows its huge dimension of red and black berry flavours, which combine splendidly with its round tannins, offering an everlasting and pleasant finish.

ABV: 14.5%  Serving Temp: 18°C  Decant: 1hr  Pairing: Roast beef, Steak   Tartare, Red Meat Cuts

 

Cartuxa | Red | Reserva | 2016 | Doc Alentejo - Vivino Rating 4.5

Intro: This wine gets its name from the Cartuxa Monastery, where Carthusian monks lived in silence and prayer since 1598.

Region: Alentejo, Evora (D.O.C)

Winery: Cartuxa

Grapes: Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez

Aging: 15 months in new French oak barrels followed by 15 months in bottle prior to release

Tasting Notes: Heavy garnet coloured wine. Balsamic, furniture wax, cherry, plum and sour cherry dominate the aroma of this wine, also associating notes of nutmeg. Very complex and dense, with great structure, firm tannins and excellent acidity. Long and elegant finish.

ABV: 14.5%  Serving Temp: 16-18 °C  Decant: 1hr  Pairing: Mediterranean dishes,   Grilled Pork & Juicy Steaks.


PREMIUM BOLT-ON RED
